Austin Powers actress Elizabeth Hurley, a favourite with celebrity snappers around the world, never seems to mind striking a stylish pose on the red carpet. However, the Estee Lauder model does have one complaint for the scores of photographers shouting out her name at premieres and awards bashes – stop calling her Liz.
Apparently, Hugh Grant's famous ex – like another glamour icon, Elizabeth Taylor – prefers to go by her full name. "None of my friends call me Liz," she tells German InStyle magazine, in reference to photographers and publicity. "I don't like Liz because it suggests a familiarity that doesn't exist."
The star goes on to say that she and her young son Damien might flee the limelight. "Perhaps I will just get clean away, maybe to Switzerland," she says. "Also, the county would be much better for the little one."
For now, however, Liz is enjoying a quiet life on her Cotswolds estate. "I have five employees but I am a total control freak," she says. "I simply want to do everything myself. Here on the land, I am myself – the rest is all a job."
