David Beckham lookalike Andy Harmer has plans to parlay his £50,000-a-year role as a double of the England captain into a lucrative pop career.

Andy, who's currently pursuing a pop career in Japan with his band The Copycats, has apparently spoken to record companies about a deal to sing England's song for the Euro 2004 football championships in Portugal. "I'm busy writing the song and am approaching record labels," he says. "I hope it will be bigger than Three Lions and help David and our boys win in Portugal."

The aspiring singer hopes to enlist Michael Owen and Steven Gerrad lookalike for a football-themed trio.

A former car valet from East Sussex, Andy is now mobbed in Tokyo, where he's known as "Mr Beckham" in the press. Though the lookalike says he feels "guilty" about people being fooled into approaching him as if he were the real thing, he says: "I am tricking them - but it makes their day to believe they have met Beckham."
