On Tuesday, singer Chris de Burgh's Lady In Red was his recently-crowned daughter, 19-year-old Miss World Rosanna Davison. The Irish beauty queen donned a crimson top as she joined her father at the first charity event of her 12-month reign, the Variety Club Christmas Lunch in London.
Proud papa Chris, who says he "went bonkers" when the results of the contest were announced, was among the first to congratulate his photogenic offspring when she scooped the crown this past weekend in Sanya, China. "I'm absolutely thrilled," he said. "I'm seriously proud of her."
The University College Dublin art student was chosen from a stunning pool of 105 competitors for the Miss World title, the first Irish contestant to do so. "I'm still waiting for it to sink in," she said of her triumph. "When I go home it will hit me more, especially when I see everybody and see the newspapers there."
Chris and Rosanna were joined by Petula Clark, EastEnders star Wendy Richard, presenter Michael Aspel and magician Paul Daniels at the London fundraising event, which was held to benefit disadvantaged children.
