British TV star Shane Ritchie's popularity helped him put his hit single I'm Your Man at the top of the music charts this year, and now the EastEnders actor's on-screen character Alfie Moon is climbing up a roster of a different sort.
"Alfie" – which is thought to have alos been boosted by the upcoming Jude Law remake movie of the same name – has shot onto the list of top baby monikers, landing at a respectable number 23. The only other name making a debut on the chart is Jacob, which appears at 30.
Other celebrity-inspired appearances on the list include Mia, the name of Kate Winslet's three-year-old daughter, which entered at 26 last year and moved up to number 17. And while Daisy and Poppy – the names of Jamie and Jools Oliver's children – did not make the top 30, preference for them is on the rise, with the two now placed at 36 and 46, respectively.
However, the top spots on the countdown, compiled by parent and baby product manufacturer Bounty, remain unchanged – Jack is the male favourite for the ninth year in a row, while six-time number one Chloe continues to reign for little girls.
