David Beckham has become a true "pop" star, signing on to a mega-lucrative advertising campaign for a soft drink company, and appearing in a charity music video for UNICEF.
The sexy footballer has renegotiated his £5-million contract with beverage giant Pepsi, agreeing to a whopping £15-million deal to front an upcoming campaign. Becks will be joined in the series of adverts by fellow soccer superstars Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos, Francesco Totti and Raul.
And on a different note, David will be seen with big names of another sort in an upcoming charity music video for UNICEF – but that project has already met with some controversy.
The clip for Children Of The World, by R'n'B singer Ana Ann, will feature footage of the Real Madrid hunk as well as legendary football star Pele and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
However, a spokesperson for Becks told British newspaper The Sun that the use of his image is unauthorised, and the England captain has consulted his lawyers. "David never gave permission for the footage of him to be used," said the representative. "He knows nothing about the song."
