It seems the Christmas spirit has endured well into January for designers Dolce and Gabbana, after they gave their friends the Beckhams a rather impressive gift.

David and Victoria have been staying with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana as they enjoy the shows at Milan Menswear Week. And the legendary designers decided to make their stay one to remember, by closing their flagship stores to the public and allowing the couple to pick out as many items as they liked on a gift basis. According to press reports, Posh and Becks took home around £40,000 of designer gear after their private shopping spree.

"I like a woman who is sensual and aggressive," said Stefano. "Victoria is just that, but at the same time as gentle as a dove. They're both two gentle doves. They really are two very sweet people – we consider them very close friends."

Back in Britain, there will be a rather more hefty price tag for whoever decides to buy the Beckhams' old house in Cheshire. The glamorous couple have put their Nether Alderly home, which includes a heated indoor pool and a £25,000 treehouse, on the market for £1.7 million.
