British TV personality Anthea Turner has been speaking openly about her long-running efforts to become a mother. After six unsuccessful attempts to conceive through IVF, friends say the popular presenter is beginning to accept that she may never have a child of her own.

But despite her travails, the 43-year-old is refusing to give up hope of starting a family. "I still think it may happen," she said in a recent interview. "Some people may think I am mad, but you have to think that way. You have to remain optimistic. I shall never completely give up hope. I shall go on trying to have a baby right up until the day my body simply says it's too late. That may not be for a while yet."

And Anthea is insistent it is worth keeping on trying, although she admits it is an emotionally draining process: "I keep hearing of miracles happening to women who become mothers as late as 50, so I have decided I must keep upbeat," she reveals. "I went through all that IVF treatment, which is not very pleasant at all, and I am not even ruling out having IVF again. After all, if you get the right result, it doesn't matter that the treatment is not particularly nice. You would still be over the moon, wouldn't you?"

For the moment the breakfast TV star says she is lucky to have such a great husband in property dealer Grant Bovey. And she feels blessed to play a positive role in the lives of his three children, Olivia, 11, Amelia, ten, and seven-year-old Claudia. The indefatigable celeb says her new role as a patron of the charity Infertility Network UK is also helping her to keep her chin up.
