It seems that two of the Nineties' hottest pop acts may soon be back on top of the charts, because the Spice Girls and Take That are both planning to make a comeback.

Mel B, or Scary Spice as she was known, says the girls are hoping to pen a new song in the not too distant future. "I think they are going to release a greatest hits album, and hopefully we will all get together and write a song for it," she said.

But the singer admits Spice fans may have to wait a little for the release, because she and her former bandmates are all busy with their own projects for the time being. "We keep on talking about it, but everybody has branched off to do their own thing," said the 28-year-old, who is currently enjoying a successful stint on Broadway in the musical Rent.

The boys from Take That are likewise working on a reunion. Fans of the inimitable Robbie Williams may be disappointed to hear he won't be taking part, but Gary, Mark, Jason and Howard are planning to give a one-off live performance.

The show will be staged to coincide with the launch of a new DVD and a back catalogue of their hits. "The band's record company BMG came to us with the idea of releasing live footage of their old concerts," explained manager Nigel Martin Smith. "It was obvious there's still a lot of interest in the band, and none of the footage has ever been put out… The reunion is part of the deal."
