Some of Britain's leading ladies turned on the glitz to dramatic effect on Sunday night, when the inaugural Celebrity Awards were staged in London.

Perhaps the biggest cheer was for chart-toppers Girls Aloud, who drew gasps from the crowd when they arrived in daringly short skirts and plunging necklines. And classical performer Myleene Klass was likewise turning heads, in a backless green number.

But it was Hell's Kitchen star Jennifer Ellison who stole the show, in a thigh-skimming frock with a glittering bodice. The 21-year-old, who was accompanied by her fiancé Tony Richardson, was crowned Woman Of The Year at the prizegiving.

TV presenter Abi Titmuss was likewise dressed to impress, in a black Hugo Boss suit. Top model Caprice meanwhile opted for a simple black evening gown, while chanteuse Rachel Stevens, who was named Sexiest Female, was in a floral-print mini-dress.

Among the other big winners on the night were Kerry McFadden, who took the Mum Of The Year award, and Simon Cowell, who was named Celebrity Of The Year. Even Prince William was honoured, with the prize for sexiest male, although he didn't show to pick it up in person. "I can see why he won," confessed Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle. "I remember when I was 13 I used to have a crush on him."
