While Pamela Anderson has achieved a great many things over the course of her career, it would be fair to say she hasn't exactly been showered in critical plaudits. The voluptuous actress obviously doesn't mind being the butt of a few jokes, however, as she has gamely submitted herself to a comedic "roasting". The former Baywatch star agreed to take her animal rights work one step further by walking headlong into a maelstrom of jokes and jibes. TV network Comedy Central offered to donate $200,000 to her favourite charity, People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals, if Pammy would go along to their studios for a tongue-in-cheek thrashing.
So what was the blonde bombshell's response to their rather unusual proposal? "Absolutely!," she declared. "Roast me, boil me, poach me. Whatever you've got to do, let's get it done'."
Given that she is a committed vegetarian, it came a small surprise when the popular performer arrived for the bash accompanied by a giant walking carrot. There was also some rather more human moral support on stand-by, though, because ex-husband Tommy Lee, to whom she is still very close, was also in attendance.
Once she got inside the studio, organisers more than delivered on their promise to have plenty of fun at her expense. "I think the funniest thing about Pamela Anderson is probably when she attempts to act," said stand-up Adam Carrola with a sly grin. "For me, that's the best part."
Not everyone wanted to put her down, though. Her old friend Courteney Love, who has made a dramatic comeback from the troubles she has experienced in recent years, was more inclined to make fun of herself. "She's really smart, and she's really cool and we share the distinction of being the two biggest freak shows on Earth, who have the most fame and the least amount of money," she said.
