The comings and goings at troubled soap EastEnders continue with the announcement that Nigel Harmen and Letitia Dean are to quit the long-running show.

While Nigel, who plays Albert Square hunk Dennis Rickman, is leaving for good in a decision which the Beeb describes as "mutual and amicable", the door is apparently being left open for Letitia to return at some point in the future.

"We do not know when she will come back, but she will return," said a spokesperson. Letitia, who began a decade-long stint with the show in 1985, has popped in and out of the Square several times since.

She and Nigel will make their last appearance at the end of the year, along with fellow cast member Jessie Wallace. All are reported to be keen to pursue other roles. Their departure comes as a host of former Walford names, including Barbara Windsor and Ross Kemp, return to the Square.
