EastEnders Mohammed George, who plays luckless road sweeper Gus, has a more challenging role on his hands these days than keeping Albert Square clean.

Just five months after the surprise arrival of his infant daughter - girlfriend Emma Archibald didn't know she was pregnant, and gave birth after going to hospital with tummy problems – Mohammed is playing single dad to baby Olivia.

In an interview in the Daily Mirror the 21-year-old actor revealed that he and Emma have parted company, and he's raising their young daughter on his own.

Describing single fatherhood as "the biggest challenge of my life", Mo says: "The baby's fine, but things are bad between her mother and I. The rows were terrible and it wasn't the right environment to bring up a baby, so I'm looking after her at my flat."

Describing Olivia as "the most important person in my life", he explains that his ex lives just round the corner so "(Emma) has her when she wants, and my dad is helping too".

Mohammed admits that looking after his baby daughter and filming EastEnders is "a tough balancing act", but is clearly enamoured of his little girl. "She's so cute," he enthuses. "When I sing she gurgles along. I never thought I'd be a father this young. I'd like to have been married first, but it hasn't worked out that way."

Mohammed says his dad is helping him care for Olivia, while the five-month-old's mum, Emma Archibald (with Mo, above), lives just round the corner so she's on hand, too. The couple had been dating for a year when Emma was admitted to hospital with a tummy ache. Hours later she gave birth to Olivia, who weighed in at 5lb 14oz
