She may have made her home in Madrid, but Victoria Beckham knows there's only one city to be in if you want to keep up with the latest fashion trends. So it was no surprise to see the former Spice Girl taking her seat in the front row when Italian fashion guru Roberto Cavalli presented his latest creations in Milan. Victoria, who was looking chic in a high-collared black blouse and fitted knee-length skirt, caused quite a commotion when she made her entrance, with a storm of flashbulbs following her to her seat.
The 31-year-old, who was accompanied by her little sister Louise, will no doubt have recognised the image of the sea which lined the runway. Roberto himself took the photograph at his bolthole in Sardinia, where David and Victoria stayed as his guests earlier in the year.
And there was a distinctly nautical flavour to the show itself, with the sound of water filling the venue as models took to the catwalk in naval blazers and tiny hotpants. There were also some mischievous piratical creations, with swashbuckling beauties sporting bandeaus on their heads, and floaty evening affairs in aqua marine silk chiffon.
Victoria could well have picked up some inspiration for her own designs. The former pop star will be presenting a new collection in partnership with trendy American company Rock And Republic later this month in Los Angeles. So far her design efforts have mostly been limited to hip denims, but the mum-of-three says she has big plans for the year ahead. "At some point I would love to do sunglasses and more tailored clothing," she explained. "I'm working my way up and I'm really enjoying it."
