Davina McCall's energetic style won her droves of viewers at Channel 4, and now the Big Brother presenter is being lured to the chat show sofa as she becomes the first woman to host a BBC peak-time talk show.
The TV dynamo has reportedly signed a £1-million deal with the corporation to front her own programme on Wednesday nights at 8pm.
The BBC are hoping the 38-year-old can fill the vacancy left by the defection of chat show king Michael Parkinson, who moved to ITV1 last year. The line-up for the pilot, which has yet to be broadcast, features singer Charlotte Church, comedian Peter Kay and EastEnders actor Nigel Harman.
"Davina is a great choice because she has real empathy," said Peter Fincham, the head of BBC1. "We haven't had a chat show in peak time since Michael Parkinson, and the fact that it's not being hosted by a man also makes it quite exciting."
