Two of the world's most fashion-savvy women came face to face this week when Victoria Beckham and American stylist L'Wren Scott met up for the Chanel haute couture show in Paris. The former Spice Girl was spotted chatting warmly with her American companion - who has been dating rock veteran Mick Jagger for the past five years - as Karl Lagerfeld presented his latest collection in the city's opulent Grand Palais.
The two women, who were both hiding behind oversized sunglasses, seemed to have a lot to talk about. And the huge sparkler L'Wren was sporting on her ring finger set tongues wagging around the venue, with not a few of her fellow fashionistas wondering if the Rolling Stones frontman had popped the question.
While speculation of an impending trip down the aisle remains unconfirmed, there can be little doubt about the singer's commitment to his long-time partner. He is currently having the floors of his home in Richmond lowered so the 6ft 3in beauty doesn't have to stoop when she's staying with him.
Victoria, meanwhile, has confessed to having rather less lofty concerns about her physical stature. After taking to the catwalk at Roberto Cavalli's show last week, the mum-of-three admitted to feeling distinctly petite by comparison with the other models. "I was so nervous - I was just about the shortest person there," revealed the 5ft 6in star. "But the reception I got was fantastic - when I came out everybody clapped and that gave me a huge boost."
The England skipper's wife was sporting a dazzling white number for her turn on the runway, but she opted for a black Dolce & Gabbana creation on Tuesday afternoon. L'Wren likewise opted for the monochrome look, with an elegant black coat over matching jeans and spike-heeled boots.
