On Oscar night Keanu Reeves walked the red carpet with Speed co-star Sandra Bullock, but then found himself playing gooseberry when the actress' husband Jesse James joined them at the Vanity Fair party. But The Matrix star had no such trouble on a recent date with a female companion in New York.
Looking relaxed and happy, Keanu wandered the streets of the Big Apple hand-in-hand with the lithe brunette who was wrapped up against the cold in a woolly hat and jacket. The smiling pair seemed very much at ease in each other's company as they chatted happily and window shopped over the weekend.
One of movie industry's most enigmatic stars, Keanu is rarely seen out with any of Hollywood's glamorous ladies, preferring to devote his time to hobbies like surfing, horseriding and motorbikes. The 41-year-old has had few serious relationships since the 2001 death of his on-off girlfriend Jennifer Syme in a car crash.
Indeed for a time, the actor seemed unlikely ever to settle down. He spent years living in LA's Chateau Marmont hotel before buying an estate in the Hollywood Hills in 2003.
Until recently Keanu, who also has an apartment in New York, was often on the road with his former rock band Dogstar. Now, however, the star may have found someone to put an end to his nomadic, bachelor existence.
