Celebrating her 41st birthday this weekend, Sarah Jessica Parker arrived back at her New York townhouse to be greeted by a beautiful birthday bouquet. The gorgeous blooms will have added a touch of spring to the chic home she shares with her husband, fellow actor Matthew Broderick, and their three-year-old son James.
Wearing a fashionable beige belted coat and this season's essential oversized sunglasses, Sarah Jessica was clearly in businesslike mode: the Big Apple's most stylish resident has not found that being past 40 has caused the stream of scripts and offers to dry up, and still maintains a hectic schedule.
The former Sex And The City star has barely paused for breath since hanging up her Manolos and tidying away Carrie Bradshaw's wardrobe. Although a planned big screen reunion of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte has been called off, the petite actress has been keeping on her toes. Her latest film, Failure To Launch, premiered in New York earlier this month and she has further film projects in the pipeline.
Juggling work and family commitments certainly occupies a large proportion of SJP's time, and she admits that the glamorous life of Carrie is often in sharp contrast to the day-to-day reality. "The better part of my day is spent in practical clothing," she reveals. "And I don't spend so much time shopping, because when I'm not working I'd rather enjoy being with my son than make him sit in a stroller in a store, when he doesn't want to be there."
