While fiancé Wayne Rooney is making headlines with his gambling losses, girlfriend Coleen McLoughlin was revelling in a more successful flutter as one of her horses romped home at Aintree over the weekend.
And the 20-year-old local lass made sure she had plenty of friends and family on hand to help her celebrate the moment, having invited her mum, Colette, 43, and a group of chums along to a champagne reception in a £1,000 private box – a birthday present from the Manchester United player.
Despite the chilly weather the girls were clearly determined to show off their spring finery at Ladies Day, donning floaty numbers in a range of soft pastel colours. But it was the increasingly glamorous Coleen who was the clear winner in the style stakes, stepping out in a tailored jacket and shorts with a Hermes scarf and Gucci handbag.
One accessory not on display, however, was the England striker's most recent token of devotion. Although his Liverpool love was sporting the pebble-sized rock he presented her with in 2004, there was no sign of the £60,000 platinum and diamond Tiffany collar she received from him recently.
