Having one of the movie industry's hottest stars serenade you at a glitzy New York gala would be a dream come true for most men, but when Sarah Jessica Parker showed off her vocal talents for hubby Matthew Broderick this week, she was also fulfilling one of her own greatest ambitions.

As a young girl growing up in New York, the diminutive actress dreamed of one day becoming a professional singer. Over the years it became clear that her real talent lay in acting, but the other guests in Manhattan's Cipriani 42nd Street venue were left in little doubt about her ability to hit those high notes when she performed in honour of her leading man.

The 44-year-old actor was clearly moved by his wife's display of affection. And the stylish mum-of-one could barely contain her own feelings, running down to her husband's table and embracing him enthusiastically when her performance came to an end.

Sarah's pitch-perfect tribute came as Matthew was honoured at the American Theatre Wing's annual spring gala for his critically acclaimed work on Broadway. Given that she first met the Godzilla star when he was directing her brother Timothy in a stage production, Monday's bash offered the ideal moment to celebrate their ten-year romance.
