Avril Lavigne is definitely a girl who knows what she wants. In the past her drive won the self-styled "punk princess" a place at the top of the pop ladder and a global fan base that ran into millions.
Now at the tender age of 21, and with a softer, more feminine image she's letting it be known that her priorities include a high-profile relationship with her very own Sk8er Boi, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley.
At a recent industry award show in Florida the former tomboy strode in hand-in-hand with her fresh-faced beau and then snuggled up to him throughout the evening. In place of the combats and trainers she was prone to wearing a few years ago, Avril was pretty in a camisole top over skinny-fit jeans, an ensemble that seemed set to find favour with her 25-year-old rocker.
On the agenda for the loved-up pair - who've settled in Los Angeles' ultra-exclusive Bel-Air neighbourhood - are marriage and a family, after Deryck proposed last June.
Not one to go into details about her private life, the Complicated singer hasn't announced a date for the big day. But she has come out to defend her decision to marry so young. "Everything has come superfast for me, a lot faster than for most people," she revealed recently. "I don't have the average lifestyle. I just know in my heart I'm doing the right thing."
