The actor who played EastEnders landlord Alfie is over the moon today after welcoming a new baby into his life. Small screen favourite Shane Richie is said to be ecstatic after his fiancée Christie Goddard gave birth to a healthy boy in the early hours on Sunday morning.
Mother and child are both said to be doing fine after the delivery in West London's St John and Elizabeth hospital. And the patriotic actor was particularly delighted that the new addition to his family arrived on such a significant day for Britain.
"He was especially pleased because the baby has been born on St George's Day and William Shakespeare's birthday," revealed a spokesman for the 42-year-old. "Everything's fine and Shane's over the moon."
The actor already has two sons, Shane Junior, 16, and 11-year-old Jake, from his marriage to Coleen Nolan. Friends of the popular performer say he and his 28-year-old love will now choose a traditional English name to reflect their bundle of joy's timely debut.
