When Martine McCutcheon set out on the eighth Gumball 3000 Rally on Sunday she did so in a pink gingham Range Rover. The self-confessed "disco queen" had also made a careful selection of the tunes that are accompanying her and three other ladies on the round-the-world race.
The all-girl crew are among a party of multi-millionaires, musicians and other adventurers making up 120 teams. Participants - who include Pink's husband, Carey Hart - should avoid the hard grind of changing tyres and checking the oil, however. The luxury event includes stop-offs in five-star accommodation and parties across three continents.
Perched on the bonnet of a car before the race, a leather-clad Martine looked pretty cool, but the ex-EastEnder admitted to being "so excited, I'm nervous".
The attractive brunette added that she was looking forward to "seeing all the gorgeous cars and all the parts of the world".
Proceedings got under way at London's Pall Mall, where supermodel Jodie Kidd lowered the flag as the drivers revved up their engines, headed for Serbia, via Belgium, Austria and Hungary.
After the European leg of the motor challenge, the vehicles will be airlifted to Phuket in Thailand for a run through the rainforest. In the third phase the action moves on to Salt Lake City.
Highlights of the eight-day fest will include a performance by rapper Snoop Dogg and a closing bash hosted by Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion in a week's time.
