A teen newspaper launch became a family affair when footballer Jamie Redknapp and his wife Louise turned up with their toddler son Charley. At the Downing Street event, hosted by Gordon Brown, the little boy, although a little shy, took a cue from his mum and posed angelically for the cameras.

The youngster - who arrived after the former Eternal singer had fertility treatment and is a few months short of his second birthday - is his parents' pride and joy. "Charley makes me laugh no matter how I'm feeling," the former pop star has commented. "If I've had a bad day I walk through that front door and immediately feel different."

Meanwhile Anthea Turner, chic in a floaty patterned top and trousers, brought a summery feel to the reception, flanked by husband Grant Bovey and his three daughters. Fourteen-year-old Lily, Amelia, who's 12, and Claudia, nine, had all chosen striking outfits for the party.

The Perfect Housewife presenter recently revealed how caring for the girls helped her overcome the heartache of not bearing her own children.

Lily and her sisters spend half the school holidays and every other weekend with the couple. "They're absolutely delightful," she enthuses. "None of them ever say 'You're not my mum, you can't tell me what to do'."
