It was the BBC's night of triumph as Doctor Who and its adaptation of Charles Dickens' Bleak House took top honours at the Baftas, but scarlet ladies, Debra Stephenson and Kate Ford stole the show.
The two Coronation Street actresses, dazzling in slinky red gowns, were among the cream of British talent who turned out for TV's big night.
Among the guys it was the current Time Lord,David Tennant who stood out with his new beard and kilt. The Scottish actor's Tardis companion Billie Piper was also there to celebrate the sci-fi romp's wins in the drama series category and the Pioneer audience award.
Noel Edmonds - who'd hoped to bag his first BAFTA after 30 years in the business - went away empty handed. But the 57-year-old presenter, whose show Deal Or No Deal has put him firmly back in the limelight, would have found consolation in the company of his three elegantly dressed young daughters, Charlotte, Lorna and Olivia.
Jonathan Ross also had warm words for the TV colleague he pipped to the post for best entertainment performance, praising Noel for doing "a tremendous job". Picking up the gong for his Friday night show the flamboyant chat show host exclaimed: "Blimey, I'm surprised. But not as surprised as Noel."
Also on hand was The Office creator Ricky Gervais. Although not in the running for a prize, he got plenty of attention when he arrived with partner Jane Fallon, who was in a full-length rose-coloured gown.
