It was easy to understand why radio favourites Chris Evans and Chris Moyles were sporting wide grins on Monday night. The two disc jockies were both honoured with trophies, and the company of beautiful women, when they went along to the Sony Radio Academy Awards in London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
The flame-haired performer, who was famously fired from Virgin Radio in 2001, celebrated his comeback in appropriately glamorous style when he was presented with the Music Radio Personality Of The Year trophy by Irish stunner Andrea Corr. "It's great to be back," said the 40-year-old. "Thanks for giving me a second chance."
And his namesake Chris Moyles was also, understandably enough, smiling from ear to ear after glamour girl Jordan handed him the award for best entertainer. "I thought it would be Jonathan or Danny," he confessed in reference to his fellow nominees Jonathan Ross and Danny Baker.
Among the other guests rubbing shoulders at the Park Lane bash were broadcasting veteran Terry Wogan, who was honoured with a lifetime achievement award, and flamboyant cross-dresser Dame Edna Everage. Stylish chanteuse Sophie Ellis-Bextor brought a touch of chart-topping glamour to the event, while former TV star Leslie Ash, who has been keeping a relatively low profile since being struck down with MRSA in 2004, likewise made a return to the red carpet.
