Geri Halliwell has given birth to a little girl. The 33-year-old checked into London's exclusive Portland Hospital for the caesarean delivery where a source announced that "the birth went well. Mother and daughter are doing fine."
The former Spice Girl became pregnant after a whirlwind romance with Hollywood script writer Sacha Gervasi last year, describing it as "my happy accident". It was a moment she feared would never happen, after years of suffering from eating disorders that could have affected her fertility. And while the pregnancy was unplanned, she says the longed-for baby "will make my world complete".
First time mum Geri welcomed her new bundle of joy into the world at 9pm on Sunday night with the help of top obstetrician, Malcolm Gillard, who oversaw the births of ex-bandmate Victoria 's sons Brooklyn and Cruz. Her mother Anna Maria was at her bedside to give support in the absence of the baby's father.
In a statement Sacha said: "I fully intend to give Geri and the baby all the love and support they need." The 40-year-old Brit lives in LA where he is currently writing the script for a big-screen version of Dallas. He met Geri through mutual friend Robbie Williams, but despite initially getting along well apparently they fell out after a series of heated rows.
