When the king and queen of the British celebrity world called, the big names cleared their diaries. So the Beckham's pre-World Cup bash was a star-studded affair - among the famous faces were Sharon Osbourne, who arrived in a silver lamé gown, accompanied by husband Ozzy and daughter Kelly.
The heirs apparent to the golden couple's crown Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin also turned out. Injury-hit Wayne was, no doubt, cheered by his girlfriend's show-stopping appearance in an elegant aqua-coloured gown, accessorised with £125,000 of diamonds.
Obeying Posh and Becks' command to be "full-length and fabulous", Lulu looked sensational in a swirling scarlet creation. And, in the Spice Girls' new-found spirit of solidarity, the baby of the bunch Emma Bunton was also on hand.
Other guests included the Duchess of York and her daughter Princess Beatrice, as well as Jade Jagger, who eschewed the formal gowns worn by others for a sexy tight-fitting leather dress. Meanwhile the gorgeous Kidd sisters, Jemma and Jodie, were both were on fine form in floral summer frocks.
The only prominent 'no-shows' were Victoria's friends Elton and his partner David Furnish, who were attending an AIDS foundation event in Cannes, along with Elizabeth Hurley.
Aside from people-watching there was plenty of entertainment on offer as the celebs sat down to a dinner by Gordon Ramsay. Robbie Williams, James Brown and Julio Iglesias provided the music, while Graham Norton compered. And when a Roberto Cavalli-dressed Victoria waved off the last of the invitees, she will have had the contentment of knowing the party raised up to £3 million for children's charities.
