Dripping in jewels and dressed in a striking lime green kaftan, Elizabeth Taylor arrived at a TV studio to rubbish reports she is in poor health. Speculation had been rife that the actress, famed as one of Hollywood's great survivors, was being treated for Alzheimer's.
A defiant Liz gave short shrift to rumours she'd been planning her funeral. "Oh come on, do I look like I'm dying?" she asked interviewer Larry King. "Do I look or sound like I have Alzheimer's?"
Sitting in a wheelchair for the chat, the star - who made her last movie in 1994 - explained she's been plagued by back problems since her teens. The 74-year-old actress said she was born with scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine, and also has osteoporosis.
Elizabeth also spoke out in support of Michael Jackson. "I've never been so angry in my life," she fumed when asked about the molestation charges brought against the musician last year.
The actress defended the singer, whose trial ended in his acquittal, for holding slumber parties at his Neverland ranch. "I've been there, when his nephews were there, and we all were in the bed, watching television," she said. "There was nothing abnormal about it. We laughed like children, and we watched a lot of Walt Disney. There was nothing odd about it."
