Cap on backwards, her face rapt with concentration, model Rachel Hunter looked on anxiously as a tense standoff unfolded between the Edmonton Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes. The 36-year-old New Zealand stunner was mesmerised by the ice hockey action at the NHL Stanley Cup Finals in Alberta's Rexall Place stadium.

Rod Stewart's ex-wife will have had a lot of exposure to the game during her year-long romance with Canadian ice hockey star Sean Avery, who plays for the LA Kings.

Rachel ended the relationship with the sporting ace, who is 11 years her junior, in May 2005. But the mother-of-two may have good reason to be following the current championship with avid interest as media reports suggest that her latest squeeze is top-scoring Oiler Jarret Stoll.

Joining Rachel in following the rivalry between the two teams were a host of well-known small screen actors. Jason Gray-Stanford of dectective series Monk and local boy Jason Thompson, General Hospital's notorious ladies' man, Dr Patrick Drake, were in town to spur on the home team.

Meanwhile Angel from Buffy The Vampire Slayer aka David Boreanaz was spotted in the stands clapping enthusiastically in appreciation of the fast and furious pace.
