Billie Piper has revealed she won't be seeking a share of her soon-to-be ex-husband's £30 million fortune in the upcoming divorce settlement with former radio DJ Chris Evans. "I'm not taking a penny from him," she says.

With her career going from strength to strength these days the singer-turned-actress is financially secure in her own right. Paid an estimated £100,000 for the award-winning Doctor Who series, she'll soon be picking up a £250,000 cheque for the title role in a screen adaptation of the Sally Lockhart mystery novels.

The former Mrs Evans, who remains on friendly terms with Chris, has reached a happier stage in her life after battling depression and substance-abuse problems at the height of her pop fame. "I had my head in the clouds, was mad, neurotic, destructive, a very different character to the one you see today," she told the Radio Times.

"Chris and I found each other when it could have gone badly wrong for both of us. And we saved each other from our worlds of madness," she revealed. The pair married in Las Vegas five years ago, when she was just 18 and he was 34.

She is now happily involved with law student Amadu Sowe, 28, who shares her £2-million home just a few doors away from the redheaded star's West London house. And recently she's been adjusting her work commitments to make more time for the relationship. Explaining why she quit the popular role as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who, she says: "We filmed in Wales for nine months, and I didn't like being away from home. I enjoy being domesticated, washing up and cooking dinner for my boyfriend."
