Jamie Foxx and Beyonce dazzle their fans at BET Awards

A roll call of the music industry's biggest names raised the roof of Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium on Tuesday night when they turned out to strut their stuff for the Black Entertainment Awards. Shining lights like Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Kanye West all gave jaw-dropping performances as they showed off the talents that have made them the hottest stars of their generation.

Oscar-winner Jamie was undoubtedly the man of the moment, taking home the gongs for best hip-hop collaboration - which he shared with rapper Kanye West - and best video. "Love to all black people!" declared the Ray actor as he took to the stage. "You all are stepping up black music - this is the best music right here and we've got to keep on giving it to them."

R&B bombshell Beyonce was also on sizzling form, shaking her booty in a silver micro-mini and matching bikini top when she performed her new single with boyfriend Jay Z. Veteran singer Prince, who was named best male R&B artist, likewise managed to dazzle the audience when he stepped into the spotlight in one of his trademark purple suits.

Among the other musical luminaries honoured on the night were Mary J Blige, who picked up the gong for best female R&B artist, and Missy Elliot, who received the trophy for best female hip-hop artist. And iconic Seventies star Chaka Khan was visibly moved when she was presented with a lifetime achievement award in recognition of her glittering career. "I am so honoured to be honoured by my people," said the 53-year-old. "This means everything to me."
