Elizabeth Hurley obviously decided to pull out all the stops after her old friend Sir Elton John made India the decorative theme of a lavish party in his Berkshire mansion. The 41-year-old model, whose millionaire boyfriend Arun Nayar hails from the populous country, made a dazzling impression on the waiting press pack when she rolled up to the event in a stunning white gown and diamond tiara from Chopard.
She wasn't the only one on glittering form, though, as Aussie songstress Kylie Minogue was wearing £3 million of eye-popping jewellery. The 38-year-old, who has just announced plans to resume her ShowGirl tour after battling her way back from breast cancer, was sporting a £2.5 million necklace from Bulgari and ten-carat diamond earrings to complement her Chanel dress. "This is my official coming out," said the diminutive chanteuse as she arrived at the White Tie And Tiara ball.
Her fellow Australian, Natalie Imbruglia, was likewise in attendance, along with Pamela Anderson, who opted for a simple wraparound affair in white silk. And although there was no shortage of showbiz queens on hand at the exclusive shindig, Sir Elton had also included a few real life princesses on the guest list. Princess Beatrice, who was wearing an unusually risqué number with a plunging neckline, made her entrance with little sister Eugenie, who opted for a rather more demure spaghetti-strap creation.
Among the other A-listers joining in the fun were catwalk queens Jodie Kidd, Kate Moss, Petra Nemacova and Elle Macpherson. Penny Lancaster was accompanied by her leading man Rod Stewart, while society heiress Jemima Khan enjoyed a dashing escort from her actor beau Hugh Grant.
