If anyone deserved a hug from Jade Jagger on Tuesday it was her pooch Ella. The sleek greyhound made her mistress proud after coming second in "the dog with the waggiest tail" class at Macmillan Dog Day, which was judged by Elizabeth Hurley.
Like all the women who inhabit the Jagger galaxy, Ella is exquisitely groomed and has enviably long legs. Although the elegant canine won the rosette wearing a simple brown collar, Mick's jewellery designer daughter revealed her pooch could have sported something a little more exclusive. Upmarket gem label Garrard, where Jade is creative director, has some fabulous accessories for the four-legged companions of the rich and famous. "We do a jewel-encrusted collar, but I'm not sure how much they cost," said Jade. "My dogs don't wear them, though." Jade was accompanied to the fund-raising event for cancer research by her daughters, 13-year-old Assisi and Amba, ten, and her on-off love Dan Williams, as well as two other dogs. Elizabeth, who jetted off to Paris Fashion Week shortly after the competition, came solo - as her pets can't be trusted in company. "I've left my dogs at home," she sighed. "They're impossibly naughty."
