Tears and laughter as Ant ties the knot

Over the course of their careers, TV double act Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have rarely been seen apart. And the same was true when Ant tied the knot with make-up artist Lisa Armstrong at the weekend, as his long-time collaborator was on hand to perform the best man duties.

The skies over Taplow in Buckinghamshire opened just as the couple were getting ready to walk down the aisle, but that did little to dampen the atmosphere inside the church. Lisa, who was wearing a white satin gown by Stuart Parvin, struggled to hold back tears as she said her vows, but soon afterwards, when the reception got underway in nearby Cliveden House, Dec lightened things up by delivering a hilarious speech.

"As you know, I'm the best man - I've always known that, but it's taken Ant a while to realise," joked the Geordie funnyman. "Traditionally, the best man offers words of advice on girls and marriage. I don't know why they've asked me. I don't have a girlfriend and I'm not married, but I'm sure there's a girl for me just around the corner – unless the police have moved her on."

In reality, the self-effacing bachelor spent much of the evening chatting to former girlfriend Clare Buckfield, prompting speculation of the two reuniting. Dec enjoyed a ten-year romance with the 2.4 Children actress before they split in 2003, but he recently confessed he would "never say never" to giving their relationship another go.
