For a man about to scare the living daylights out of movie-goers, Jim Carrey appeared to be in high spirits when he was spotted in Los Angeles this week. The Canadian funnyman has temporarily turned his back on comedy roles to star in pyschological thriller The Number 23, and co-star Virginia Madsen has promised the film will be "very dark and scary".
And the hunky star seems as delighted with his love life as he is with the change of professional direction. In a bright green T-shirt to match his sunny mood, the 44-year-old actor, who has been romancing covergirl Jenny McCarthy for eight months, looked the picture of contentment, supporting his lady love's recent declaration that the couple are "very, very happy".
Meanwhile, another of Canada's hot exports, Keanu Reeves was snapped kicking back in New York. Staying true to his name - Hawaiian for 'cool breeze over the mountains' - The Lake House star was the epitome of laid-back charm as he wandered along the streets of a trendy Big Apple neighbourhood. In the pipeline for Keanu is Fishing For Moonlight, the true story of a stockbroker whose life is destroyed when he takes on the Russian mafia. He is also set to star opposite Welsh stunner Catherine Zeta-Jones in drama Stompanato.
Despite his enviable career success, the heart-throb admits to longing for a long-term relationship and children. After a near-nomadic existence, the 41-year-old actor recently bought his first house in Hollywood and says he hopes his next production will be a family.
