As a kid, Vancouver-born Joshua Jackson spent some of his childhood growing up in California. So it must be with some satisfaction that he now returns there as a fully-fledged red-carpet star as he did this week for the LA premiere of his movie Aurora Borealis.

The 28-year-old pin-up, who made his name as smart-mouthed heart-throb Pacey Witter on hit teen soap Dawson's Creek, appears alongside screen love-interest Juliette Lewis and fellow Canadian Donald Sutherland in the Toronto-lensed flick. Joshua plays a slacker content with a series of dead-end jobs until visits to his ill grandfather at his nursing home give him a sense of purpose. But a romance with a flighty health-worker forces him to choose between the two.

As his silver-screen career takes off, the Cruel Intentions actor is now getting used to sharing top billing with some of Hollywood's biggest names. Attending the North American premiere of his other movie Bobby at the Toronto International Film Festival, Joshua admitted to being star-struck on set. So much so that he actually sent the film's poster home to his mother to be framed.

"The cast of that film is kind of ludicrous," said Joshua. "I am so happy to have the poster go... 'Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Joshua Jackson...' That's a pretty good list to be on. It was heart-warming to be there."
