Hunky Canadian Matthew Perry, famous for his successful ten-year run as Chandler on the hit show Friends, has made a winning return to North American TV with his new series Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip.

The new programme kicked off on September 18 and it has already been given a resounding thumbs up by the critics, with some calling it the best show to hit the small screen this autumn. In it, the Ottawa-raised actor stars as Matt Albie, a witty head writer for a fading Saturday Night Live-style comedy show.

"He's a messy individual, but he's grown-up and I really like that," explains Matthew, who is clearly relishing his return to the spotlight alongside his first-rate co-stars. The 37-year-old has hit it off especially well with Bradley Whitford - of The West Wing fame - who, like Matthew's character has been fired by the network only to be reinstated by a new, female boss, portrayed by Amanda Peet.

The former Friend is no stranger to Amanda and Bradley, having shared the screen with both actors in the past. Nominated for his guest appearance on The West Wing, he starred opposite Amanda in The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel.
