Having taken pop charts on both sides of the Atlantic by storm with her latest album, Nelly Furtado is a woman who has plenty to smile about. And the diminutive Canadian singer certainly seemed to be in top form when she arrived to host an exclusive party in New York on Monday evening.
The 27-year-old performer, who was sporting a striking white and purple dress, was photographed laughing and joking with fans outside the venue before she headed inside. Her radiant appearance was a world away from the look she embraces in her latest video, Maneater, which sees her dancing in a grimy basement.
"There's two types of shoots," she explained. "There's the comfortable ones, where you're in Hawaii, and then there's the 'looks really cool' torture shoot, where you're walking in five inches of mud in open-toe sandals."
Nelly, who is the daughter of Portuguese immigrants, obviously isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, though. "I've been brought up to work hard," affirmed the mum of one. "I don't come from a family that owned a hotel chain – my family worked in the hotel chain."
