Superchef Gordon Ramsay has served up his latest outspoken offering with the launch of his autobiography Humble Pie. The fiery Glaswegian was joined by his wife Tania at Claridges hotel, where they celebrated the new publication with the help of some famous friends.
Gordon will be hoping his legions of devoted fans have a big appetite for the revealing work, while pals Piers Morgan and Kelly Hoppen will no doubt be tucking into the juicy narrative after attending its launch bash. In Humble Pie Gordon, who won his first Michelin star at the age of 28, describes his rags to riches story and attempts to explain his legendary temper.
Among the career anecdotes he recalls is his small-screen break on the series Boiling Point, which made him a national celebrity and revealed his kitchen rages to a stunned audience.
"Back then, the public knew nothing; they imagined chefs to be ponces with stupid French accents and big white hats," writes the charismatic TV personality. "Then again, perhaps I was a little out of control," he admits.
A household name in the US thanks to his reality show Hell's Kitchen, these days the footballer-turned-culinary ace is busier than ever, combining his writing and TV appearances with managing an international coterie of award-winning eateries.
