There was no better place for Valentino to preview his ultra romantic spring/summer collection than the city of lovers - Paris. The Italian maestro had fans in raptures on Wednesday with beautiful dresses which floated down the runway in layer upon layer of chiffon frills.
Front-row celebs, who included Janet Jackson, were treated to a magical display of pretty pansy prints, ballerina layers of white tulle and ruches galore.
Valentino gave his audience a break from the more masculine ensembles and sombre shades that have featured heavily this week in the French capital, playing to his strengths as a master of feminine eveningwear. "The secret of my ready-to-wear is that I always put in a little touch of my haute-couture," he explains.
Sheer fabrics and high hemlines spelled out a youthful vision of springtime, with some of the designs looking as light and seductive as a summer breeze. Details such as jewelled embroidery, flirty bows and delicate lace were key, while the palette of hues ranged from classic cream and nude to pretty mauve and buttercup yellow.
