While David Beckham is only too happy to don his jersey for Real Madrid football club, not a few of the hunky athlete's female admirers admit they'd prefer to see him getting his kit off. And it appears the residents of Albert Square will soon get the chance to do just that, as the 31-year-old has agreed to perform a sexy strip for Children In Need.
The heart-throb athlete is to recreate the Fifties-style Levi's ad in which Nick Kamen famously stripped to his boxer shorts as Marvin Gaye's hit I Heard It Through The Grapevine plays in the background.
Becks might have to brace himself for a chilly experience, though, as he will remove his jeans in the EastEnders laundrette, rather than the steamy American venue where his chisel-jawed predecessor did his thing. And it will be Walford regular Dot Cotton, played by actress June Brown, who witnesses the event instead of the giggling girls who saw Nick show off his buff physique.
David's wife Victoria meanwhile has a few jeans-related plans of her own in the pipeline. The former Spice Girl is to make her signature denims available globally. Having recently parted company with American label Rock And Republic, the 32-year-old style queen is planning to market her creations through a new website dvbstyle.com. The mum-of-three is currently negotiating a deal with the Canadian firm Western Glove Works, who will manufacture her designs, and she hopes to have the site up and running by the New Year.
