The worlds of art, fashion and showbiz got together on Monday night to celebrate Marilyn Monroe's 80th birthday with a charity auction and unique photo exhibition of the Some Like It Hot beauty. Leading the gang was Samantha Morton, who was joined by Primrose Hill's Sadie Frost and Meg Matthews.

It was The Libertine star Samantha's idea to hold the 'Forever Marilyn' auction, which featured Marilyn-inspired designs created by celebs and some of the top names in fashion, including Philip Treacy, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen.

The Nottingham-born performer, who is currently filming Mr Lonely - in which she plays the iconic Fifties bombshell - donated a Christian Louboutin bag and the shoes she wore to the 1994 Oscars to the fundraiser, whose cause is close to her heart.

"I knew what it was like not to feel safe and secure," says the 29-year-old who, like Marilyn, was brought up in foster care. "For that reason I thought it would be right for the proceeds of the auction to be donated to Save The Children's Rewrite The Future campaign."
