Reunited girl band All Saints are back to give their younger rivals a run for their money. Now in their thirties - and some of them mums - Nicole and Natalie Appleton, Shaznay Lewis and Melanie Blatt made their live comeback on Wednesday, drawing a celebrity crowd with the intimate gig – their first in five years.
X Factor presenter Kate Thornton and Red Cap actress Tamzin Outhwaite were among the famous faces supporting the pop babes at the Shepherd's Bush Pavilion. Also on hand were Nicole's other half Liam Gallagher and her sister Natalie's husband Liam Howlett of The Prodigy.
And there wasn't a pair of their hallmark combat trousers or vest tops in sight as the singers performed a set made up of all new material. Included was their single Rock Steady, which is due for release on November 7 and is already creating a buzz in the music industry. The London concert came in the run up to a full scale tour, featuring the contents of their new album, which kicks off in the New Year.
All Saints first burst onto the pop scene in 1997 when they followed up their first single I Know Where It's At, which reached number four in the charts, with their number one hit Never Ever. The band disbanded in 2001 and went their different ways. Siblings Natalie and Nicole formed their band Appleton while Mel went solo and Shaznay picked up an Ivor Novello gong for songwriting.
