Chris Tarrant's estranged wife has poured cold water on hopes of a reconciliation between her and the popular TV presenter.

The mum-of-four told reporters outside her Surrey home that there was very little chance of them resolving their problems, before making some candid criticisms of the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? star.

"It is very unlikely we will get back together," she declared succinctly. The 52-year-old then went on to criticise her husband over the affair which led to the break-up of their marriage. "(Chris) failed our marriage. He has made a great success of his life professionally but personally he has made a complete mess of things."

Ingrid, who was speaking openly for the first time since the split, also revealed that she had been aware of his relationship with deputy head teacher Fiona McKechnie before it made headlines in the national press.

"I had known about it before it hit the papers," she said. "I'd had time to come to terms with it."
