Alanis Morissette looked the business as she revved up her mean machine in sunny California last week. Kitted out in full biker leathers, she hooked up with a couple of action-loving gal pals for some high-octane fun on the road.
"I'm so excited about riding these days," says the 32-year-old singer-songwriter, who invested in a top-of-the-range Ducati motorcycle in August. "One of the thousand things I love about it is that I can smell everything as I ride...the trees, the damp leaves...it's a sense journey each time out."
As well as her love of high speed thrills, the chanteuse's acting career is also moving up a gear. She has filmed a guest spot in three episodes of award-winning plastic surgery drama Nip/Tuck. Audiences saw her first episode aired last week in which she plays the image-obsessed girlfriend of Dr Liz Cruz. Other well-known faces putting in an appearance this season include Brooke Shields and Rosie O'Donnell.
"I love acting," reveals the Ottawa-born performer who has previously appeared on Sex And The City. "I like playing characters who are easy to hate...but eventually you see other layers of this human being." She has perhaps been picking up tips from her on-off actor boyfriend, Vancouver native Ryan Reynolds, who is currently filming Definitely Maybe with Rachel Weisz.
Fans of her music will be pleased to hear the brunette beauty is not planning to give up singing and songwriting anytime soon, however. The Grammy-winning star is currently hard at work writing new material, which, she says, will "emerge on its own. I keep pencils and paper around… I usually fill two journals for each record and at the present I have seven journals full."
