While Aussie songstress Kylie Minogue is firmly established as one of the UK's favourite stars, Italian siren Caterina Murino has been content to enjoy the attentions of just one English citizen – James Bond. Both women have been catching the attention of the media, though - within Britain and further afield.
Kylie, who is Down Under to resume her Showgirl tour on Saturday, brought a fragrant whiff to Sydney when she unveiled her first perfume, Darling, on Tuesday afternoon. "It's such a warm word," said the diminutive star of the new scent's name. "I use it with my friends, my mother uses it with me and it's a little bit showbiz."
Looking appropriately dazzling in a knee-length Audrey Hepburn-style black dress accessorised with Bulgari diamonds, the chanteuse confessed she could hardly believe her comeback was going so well. "I'm kind of pinching myself that we are here, we did it," she enthused. "To be here... to be able to enjoy the launch of this perfume... to get my show back on the road – that's what keeps me going."
Jame Bond's latest femme fatale was meanwhile making the most of her newfound celebrity by helping launch a new timepiece in New York. Fittingly enough, the Casino Royale star took her seat at a gambling table as she followed in the footsteps of the last 007, Pierce Brosnan, in representing upmarket watch company Omega.
