Some of the VIP guests among the audience seemed intent on joining in the fun when Quebec-based acrobatic troupe Cirque du Soleil brought its spectacular show Delirium to the Big Apple on Wednesday.

Ukrainian Olympic skater Oksana Baiul amazed onlookers by performing the splits as she arrived at the Madison Square Gardens venue. The 28-year-old New Jersey-based stunner proved she is still as flexible as she was in 1994 when she took home the gold for figure skating.

Resisting any gymnastic feats on the red carpet were Shawn Ashmore's former flame, actress Michelle Trachtenberg, and Patty Hearst's daughter Lydia. The gorgeous gal pals were among a roll-call of celebrities taking in the gravity-defying acts.

Delirium, which has been touring throughout the year, parts with Cirque tradition in placing music at the heart of the multimedia spectacle, showcasing 20 songs drawn from the troupe's ten touring productions. Ottawa will soon be getting a taste of the action when the show rolls into the capital on November 24 and 25.
