Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon wowed onlookers as she stepped out in a stylish tuxedo suit to a glitzy Big Apple gala at the weekend. The glam mum-of-three joined her chanteuse chum Sheryl Crow at a Beatles-themed benefit in support of Michael J Fox's charitable foundation.
"I'm really here to celebrate what Michael J Fox is doing and what he's done so far, and the great hope he's giving everyone," said Missouri-born Sheryl of the night's host. "I think he's one of the most inspiring people I've ever met," she added.
With the amazing A-list turnout, it was no surprise this year's gala was such a huge success, raising over US$5 million. Actor Denis Leary emceed, while others in attendance at the opulent Waldorf Astoria venue included boxing champ Muhammad Ali, Martin Scorsese and Ryan Reynolds. Also on hand were Elvis Costello and his Canadian songstress wife Diana Krall who is expecting in December, "but it's twins," Diana said, "so maybe sooner!".
The Back To The Future star, who was accompanied by his gorgeous wife of 18 years, Tracy Pollan, and their son Sam, says the annual fundraiser is always a "really fun night". Michael, who suffers from Parkinsons disease, ensured the evening closed with a powerful finale when he strapped on a guitar and took to the stage. There he rocked out with Sheryl and surprise guest Guns 'n Roses frontman Axl Rose.
