Nelly Furtado was on top of the world as she scooped the award for best pop-rock artist at the World Music Awards on Wednesday night. The stunning Canadian chanteuse couldn't hide her delight as she stepped on to the stage at London's Earls Court arena to pick up the coveted gong.
The mum-of-one, who made a stunning statement in a floor-length gown that exuded silver screen glamour, wowed the star-studded audience with her hit song Maneater before receiving the golden statue.
There was no time to sit back and celebrate, however. Soon after the glitzy event was over, the 27-year-old jetted back to her native country in preparation for her upcoming half-time show performance during the Canadian football league’s Grey Cup in Winnipeg on Sunday.
It seems the Grammy-winning songstress, whose latest hit album Loose reached platinum status in North America, has not only been flexing her vocal talents of late. Her recent acting lessons have come in handy during a trip to Portugal a week ago when she took on a role in Floribella, a Portuguese soap opera in her parents' home country.
