When Hugh Grant's name was thrown into the mix as a possible contender to replace Pierce Brosnan in the role of James Bond, he was always considered a rank outsider. The 46-year-old actor proved he could fill a tuxedo just as well as anyone, though, when he turned out for a glitzy gala in London this week.
The quintessentially English star wasn't the only one making an impression at this year's Red Cross Ball, as his girlfriend Jemima Khan was stunning in a shimmering golden mini-dress. She and her A-list beau had gone along to join her brother Zac and his wife Sheherazade at the fundraising soiree in The Room By The River, which overlooks the Thames.
Environmentalist Zac took centre stage inside the venue when he delivered a keynote speech about how climate change would affect the work of humanitarian organisations. And there was no shortage of lush vegetation on view, as organisers had turned the venue into a "secret garden" for the evening.
The revelry started with a cocktail reception in "a winter garden", before a moonlight dinner in what was billed as "an enchanted woodland setting". As in previous years, the exclusive shindig culminated in an auction of specially donated goodies to raise money for the Red Cross.
